MARATHI PLAY

Aranyak

(Pluralism of Realities)

Based on the famous Butterfly Dream of Chuang Tse, a 4th century Chinese philosopher, Aaranyak is a play of the "nouveau genre" which explores the philosophy of pluralism of realities and the thin line between reality and dreams. The play revolves around Saudamini, a newly wed who consults a psychiatrist about her husband’s, Avinash, delusions and dreams. As the psychiatrist goes deeper into therapy, he realizes the case is not as straightforward as it appears. Through plot twists and surprising revelations, the play forces not just the psychiatrist but also the audience to doubt, think, and finally wonder about what is real and what is a figment of the mind.
